On a golf course, the people who stand closest to golfers—and who truly shape the on-course experience—are the caddies. At RSU Vista Golf Course, we recognize our caddies as the very heart of our service. With true sportsmanship at our core, we are fully committed to continuously developing their skills, enhancing their quality of life, and strengthening their professional stability.
This dedication allows us to deliver a high-quality golfing experience—one that inspires confidence, enjoyment, and lasting impressions for every golfer who steps onto our course.
Caddies: The Most Essential Personnel of a Golf Course
- Are the team members who stay closest to golfers throughout the entire round
- Play a key role in creating a positive atmosphere, leaving a lasting impression, and enhancing golfers’ overall satisfaction
- Represent the largest group of staff and serve as a core driving force of the golf course’s service system
Therefore, the quality and professionalism of caddies clearly reflect the image and service standards of the golf course.
Where Do the Caddies of RSU Vista Golf Course Come From?
- Caddies who have been working with the course since its opening
- Caddies who have transferred from other golf courses, bringing a variety of experiences and backgrounds
- New applicants who have been carefully selected and have successfully completed training in accordance with the golf course’s standards
This diversity contributes to the professionalism and high service quality of RSU Vista Golf Course.
Caddie Recruitment and Readiness Program
To maintain high service standards, RSU Vista Golf Course has established a structured and comprehensive caddie recruitment and readiness program, closely supervised by professional trainers. The training program is divided into two levels:
- Experienced caddies undergo continuous training for a period of 7 days
- New caddies with no prior experience are required to complete 14 days of continuous training
The training covers service etiquette and hospitality, in-depth knowledge of the golf course, rules of play, safety procedures, and professional golfer care. This ensures that every caddie is fully prepared to perform their duties with consistency, professionalism, and excellence.
Duties and Roles of Caddies
- Providing full on-course support, such as carrying golf bags, operating golf carts, and assisting golfers throughout the round
- Participating in the upkeep and cleanliness of the golf course; every Monday, selected caddies assist with leaf sweeping and general course maintenance
- Supporting other service operations of the golf course through scheduled duty rotations or voluntary service shifts, helping to reduce waiting times for tee-off while ensuring consistent income opportunities
Through these roles, caddies contribute significantly to both service excellence and the overall efficiency of the golf course.
Weekly Caddie Meetings
- Approximately half of the caddie team attends each session on a rotating basis
- The meetings provide updates, important announcements, operational guidelines, and recommendations from management
- Attendance is recorded at every meeting and is used as one of the criteria for eligibility for the annual accident insurance benefit
These regular meetings help reinforce service excellence, clarity in operations, and ongoing professional development.
Caddie Welfare Enhancement and Professional Development
Caddies who demonstrate strong performance, have more than one year of continuous service with the golf course, participate regularly in training, show a commitment to learning and self-improvement, and receive high satisfaction from golfers—resulting in repeat bookings—are entitled to one year of accident insurance coverage. This benefit is provided to promote job security, confidence, and peace of mind while on duty.
In 2025, a total of 9 caddies were honored with the Outstanding Caddie of the Year Award. In 2026, over 90% of all caddies were granted accident insurance coverage, reflecting the golf course’s strong commitment to caddie welfare and continuous professional development.
Enhancing Caddie Quality of Life and Personal Development
Recognizing that many caddies have limited access to formal education, RSU Vista Golf Course actively supports non-formal and informal education programs (NFE) in collaboration with the Department of Learning Promotion, Ministry of Education. These programs are available to caddies at all educational levels, including:
- Primary Education
- Secondary Education
- Upper Secondary Education
Classes are conducted on-site at the golf course and have been continuously offered for more than three years. Currently, nearly 40 caddies are enrolled in these programs, with many progressively graduating at various levels—free of charge.
This initiative reflects RSU Vista Golf Course’s strong commitment to the holistic care and development of its personnel. By expanding access to quality education, the golf course aims to enhance long-term career opportunities, personal growth, and overall quality of life for caddies, as well as for other staff members of RSU Vista Golf Course.
Caddies… More Than On-Course Assistants
At RSU Vista Golf Course, caddies are not merely bag carriers; they are key contributors to creating memorable experiences, lasting impressions, and a positive image of the golf course.
We are therefore committed to supporting, developing, and uplifting our caddies in every dimension—so that we may grow together with stability, pride, and long-term sustainability.
